Dina Hussein is Facebook’s Counterterrorism and Dangerous Organizations Policy Lead for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Ms. Hussein leads the teams work on internal policy development, external outreach, academic partnerships and the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism (GIFCT).
Her background and expertise include researching mass/group radicalisation, counterterrorism and counterinsurgency operations in the MENA, and the protection of fundamental freedoms while countering terrorism. Her research has focused on the evolving use of social media by terrorist and violent extremist, gender dynamics within terrorist organisations and youth inclusion in countering violent extremism.
Prior to joining Facebook, Ms Hussein worked with the Foreign Commonwealth Office, Amnesty International and the Middle East Institute amongst others. She has consulted on the prevention violent extremism for the UNDP, UN Women and the US Institute for Peace.
