I graduated in Arabic and Islamic studies and Special Education of Children with Hearing Impairments from Tel Aviv University in 2012. During my study, I volunteered in journalism and mentored groups of children in distress. Immediately, I landed a job as a group facilitator with the Womaniy Federation and had the chance to work with several groups in the Triangle. I continued my work as a group facilitator with the Municipality of Um al-Fahem with a niche focus on physical and sexual violence until 2017. As a volunteer with the Ending Violence against Women campaign, an EU-funded activity spearheaded by Kayan – the Palestinian Feminist Organization and Baladna Association for Arab Youth, I further broadened my knowledge of community organizing.
Furthermore, I was actively involved in public and civic action and mobilized and followed up with the Regional Committee on Combatting Violence and other specialized committees. Soon after, I started my job as a project coordinator at 7amleh – Arab Center for the Advancement of Social Media. At 7amleh, I endeavoured to build the capacity of 7amleh’s roster of trainers and mentors in defending digital rights and effective campaigning. In the same vein, I volunteered as a coordinator at Amanina Association, a non-profit volunteering charity that aims to build and coordinate volunteer-led activities in the Arab community. I managed hundreds of volunteers and coordinated several projects to deliver food parcels for needy families. I also managed the ‘Together We Grow’ project to provide university students scholarships in partnership with Bank Hapoalim. The project was set to mentor families on the family economy through volunteering.
