Salim Abu Thahir, a Palestinian researcher and academic, is the director and editor of the Palestinian Museum Digital Archive project. Abu Thahir joined Birzeit University, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, then continued his studies at the same university to obtain two master’s degrees in urban planning and design engineering; he further obtained a doctorate of philosophy in social sciences. Abu Thahir has worked as a lecturer at Birzeit University and the Faculty of Educational Sciences of UNRWA. He also worked as a director of a local engineering office, as a consultant and as a member of research teams affiliated with several bodies working in the fields of local government, gender, political economy, and urban and knowledge transformations in the Global South. His current research interests focus on indigenous studies, modern socio-economic history, spatial inequality, and urban political economy of Palestine and the MENA region, and he has numerous publications.
